Position Summary:  The AVP, Debtor Credit is responsible for effectively and efficiently managing and directing the Factoring Credit department, while working closely with the VP, Credit to ensure compliance and protect the company against loss. The AVP, Debtor Credit supports the credit team by ensuring the analysts are using acceptable credit principles in their reviews while ensuring all team members are effectively trained and have the tools available to carry out their tasks in an accurate and efficient manner.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supports the credit team by ensuring the analysts are using acceptable credit principles in their reviews. Ensure all team members are effectively trained and have the tools available to carry out their tasks in an accurate and efficient manner.

  • Credit Requests- Manage credit requests in the Delta system that are pending purchases by operations. This is a critical function as the operations team is unable to purchase until the debtor is within the acceptable limits.

  • Credit Inquiries - Review and respond to new credit inquiries submitted through our online portal as well as email. These requests come from clients, operations and debtors.

  • Leads the credit team and effectively manages the risk of credit extensions while ensuring account debtors are kept within acceptable limits.

  • Review accounts receivable aging reports, accounts payable reports, and financial statement review and analysis. In written format, complete a collateral risk assessment with a financial summary.

  • Prepare and present credit write-ups to the appropriate loan committees (over $3.0MM) and make individual approvals up to $1.0MM.

  • Serves as the liaison between Credit and Information Technology (IT) to determine and prioritize system issues and enhancements.

  • Establish policy between Sales, Underwriting, and Credit on the submission and approval of new client applications and potential buyouts.

  • Provides a framework for communication, coordination, and expectations while assisting Sales in qualifying new prospective clients. Manage the pipeline report for the Channel Marketing and Transportation Sales teams.

  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of the company’s products and services that may meet clients' needs.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience & Education:

In addition to the previously stated elements, the ideal candidate for AVP-C will not only execute in the trenches, but also successfully lead a credit team and support senior management.  

Specific requirements for the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or related field is required. 

  • A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in a credit position of increased responsibility.

  • Extensive knowledge of financial statements is a must.

  • Experience maintaining financial integrity of internal controls.

  • 1-2 years of experience providing management and leadership oversight of the credit function.

  • Extensive understanding of financial statements (analytics and trends) is a must.

  • Knowledge of the general, transportation and/or logistics factoring industry is strongly preferred.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze financial statements.

  • Must have a deep understanding of spreading financial statements.

  • Ability to coordinate with personnel in various departments to ensure efficient flow of information.
